§1. General information

  1. This Privacy Policy sets out the rules for processing personal data, using cookies and other information storage technologies on the DartsCareer.pl website, available at https://dartscareer.pl (the “Website”).
  2. DartsCareer.pl is a free browser game simulating the career of a professional darts player. The Website is developed as an independent private project.
  3. The controller of personal data relating to the operation of the Website is Wiktor Langowski, the creator and operator of DartsCareer.pl.
  4. For matters concerning privacy, the processing of personal data or the operation of the Website, please contact dartscareer@gmail.com.
  5. The Controller exercises due care to ensure that data is processed in accordance with applicable law, in particular Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (GDPR) and the relevant rules on privacy in electronic communications.

§2. Scope of data collected

  1. Using DartsCareer.pl does not require creating an account, signing in or providing a first name, surname or email address.
  2. When you visit the Website, infrastructure providers may automatically process certain technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, the date and time of your visit and the files or pages requested. After the required consent has been obtained, analytics tools may additionally process an approximate location derived from your IP address and information about your use of the Website.
  3. If you voluntarily contact the Controller by email, your email address, the content of your message and other information that you voluntarily provide may be processed.
  4. The Website uses local game data storage mechanisms. Information about career progress, settings, created players, modifications and selected media files may be stored directly on your device.
  5. Data relating to the operation of analytics and advertising tools may be processed by external providers of these services under the terms described later in this document.

§3. Purposes and legal bases for processing

Data may be processed for the following purposes:

  1. Ensuring the proper operation of the Website — operating the website, maintaining its availability, ensuring security and detecting errors and abuse. The legal basis for processing personal data is the Controller’s legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  2. Traffic analysis and game development — understanding visitor statistics and how the website is used, and improving its features using Google Analytics. Where processing requires consent, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
  3. Displaying advertisements — the planned funding of development of this free project by displaying advertisements supplied by Google AdSense. Advertisements are not currently enabled. Once enabled, to the extent required by law, the processing of data and use of advertising technologies will be based on user consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
  4. Handling correspondence — responding to questions, bug reports and other messages sent to the Controller. The legal basis for processing is the Controller’s legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  5. Compliance with legal obligations — where processing is required by law (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).

§4. Cookies and browser storage

  1. The Website may use cookies, which are small files stored on your device, and similar technologies that allow information to be stored and accessed.
  2. The following categories of technologies may be used on the Website:
    • Necessary and functional — enable the game to work correctly and save progress, settings and selected user preferences.
    • Analytics — help understand how the Website is used and analyse visitor statistics.
    • Advertising — may be used to display advertisements, limit how often they are shown, measure advertising effectiveness and, with the appropriate consent, personalise advertisements.
  3. DartsCareer.pl also uses browser storage mechanisms, in particular IndexedDB and, depending on the feature, localStorage. These technologies may store career saves, settings, imported modifications, character photographs and other data needed to use the game.
  4. Locally stored data may remain on your device until it is deleted, overwritten or browser storage is cleared. The Controller does not maintain a central database of players’ individual career saves.
  5. Optional cookies and similar technologies that require consent are used after consent has been obtained. Users can manage consent through Google’s privacy preferences panel, in regions covered by the message, and their browser settings. Advertisements are not currently displayed.
  6. Restricting certain local storage technologies may affect the ability to save and load game progress.

§5. Google Analytics

  1. Google Analytics, an analytics tool supplied by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, has been configured for the Website. Optional tracking is enabled only after the appropriate user consent for analytics has been obtained through Google CMP.
  2. Google Analytics allows website traffic to be analysed, including visitor numbers, traffic sources, device types and how the Website is used.
  3. The use of this service may involve transmitting technical information, online identifiers and data about users’ activity on the Website to Google.
  4. Analytics technologies that require consent are used in accordance with the privacy preferences selected by the user.
  5. Analytics data is retained in accordance with the Google Analytics configuration and Google’s policies. According to the configuration specified by the Controller, event data is retained for 2 months and user data for 14 months. These settings apply to user-level and event-level data; they do not determine the retention period of aggregated reports.
  6. More information about Google’s processing of data is available at:

    https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en

§6. Google AdSense and advertising

  1. DartsCareer.pl plans to use Google AdSense to display online advertisements. Advertisements are not currently enabled. Once enabled, advertising revenue may help fund the operation and further development of this free game.
  2. Google AdSense is supplied by Google Ireland Limited. When advertisements are displayed, Google and the advertising technology providers that work with it may process certain information about users.
  3. Once advertisements are enabled, Google and external advertising providers may place and read cookies in users’ browsers and use web beacons, IP addresses or other identifiers to deliver advertisements, measure their effectiveness, prevent abuse and fulfil other purposes presented in the consent management panel.
  4. Once advertisements are enabled, personalised or non-personalised advertisements may be displayed, depending on applicable law, the Website’s settings and the user’s choices. Non-personalised advertisements may also use cookies and require consent to store or access them.
  5. Personalised advertisements may take account of users’ interests and information about their previous online activity. Non-personalised advertisements may be matched to the context of the page or a general location.
  6. Google’s privacy preferences panel presents the available processing purposes and providers and allows users to manage consent in regions covered by the message. Advertisements are not currently enabled; giving advertising consent does not in itself mean that advertisements are displayed on the Website.
  7. Detailed information about Google’s use of data is available at:

    https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites?hl=en

    https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads?hl=en

  8. You can also manage your Google advertising personalisation preferences at:

    https://myadcenter.google.com/

§7. Managing consent

  1. The Website integrates the published Google CMP message for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Users covered by the message are provided with a consent management panel for optional analytics and advertising technologies. Optional Google Analytics tracking remains blocked until the appropriate analytics consent has been obtained. The absence of a message, including outside its regional scope, is not treated as consent.
  2. In the panel, users can accept the proposed processing purposes, refuse consent or adjust their preferences for the available categories and providers. Analytics and advertising consent are considered separately.
  3. Giving consent is voluntary. Refusing consent for optional analytics or advertising technologies does not prevent you from using the game’s basic features.
  4. Users have the right to change their preferences or withdraw previously given consent at any time through the “Privacy & Cookie Settings” feature available on the Website, which reopens the Google CMP panel. If the panel is unavailable or does not cover the user’s region, the feature displays the relevant information and pauses optional tracking for the current session. Changing or withdrawing consent does not delete career saves, mods or game settings.
  5. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

§8. Game saves and locally stored data

  1. DartsCareer.pl is a browser game in which career progress and selected user data may be stored locally, without requiring an account.
  2. The Website may store game save data, individual settings, modifications and user media in browser storage, in particular IndexedDB.
  3. Users may export selected game data to files and import it back into the Website.
  4. Locally stored data is not automatically shared with the Controller as individual career saves.
  5. Clearing browser data, using another device or other actions affecting local storage may cause saved progress to be lost. The Controller recommends making regular personal backups using the save export feature.

§9. External services and websites

  1. The Website uses external technical infrastructure, including GitHub Pages, to serve website files. The game also retrieves the JSZip library from the cdnjs CDN (Cloudflare), country flags from FlagCDN and, in selected views, placeholder images from Placehold.co or Via.placeholder.com. Requests to these services may transmit an IP address and browser headers. Infrastructure providers may process technical data relating to request handling and service security. Fetching these resources does not in itself transmit an individual career save to the Controller.
  2. The Website contains links to external platforms such as Discord, X, TikTok, YouTube and Buy Me a Coffee.
  3. Supporting the project through Buy Me a Coffee is voluntary. Payments are processed on that external website under its operator’s terms. The Controller of DartsCareer.pl does not collect payment card details directly through the game. In connection with receiving support, the Controller may, however, receive information shared by the supporter or the platform, such as a supporter’s name, message or contribution details.
  4. When users follow a link to an external website, they are also subject to that website operator’s privacy rules.

§10. Data recipients and retention periods

  1. Personal data may be shared with entities supporting the operation of the Website, in particular hosting, analytics, advertising and correspondence service providers, to the extent necessary for the relevant purposes.
  2. Correspondence data is retained for the period needed to handle the message and then, where justified, for the time necessary to establish or defend potential claims or comply with legal obligations.
  3. Locally stored game save data generally remains under users’ control and may be deleted using the Website’s features or browser tools.
  4. Analytics, advertising and technical data is retained for periods determined by the configuration of the relevant services and their providers’ policies.
  5. The use of international providers may involve transferring data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, such transfers take place using appropriate safeguards provided for by the GDPR, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

§11. User rights

  1. To the extent provided for by the GDPR, data subjects have the right to access their personal data, rectify it, erase it, restrict processing, obtain data portability and object to processing based on a legitimate interest.
  2. Where processing is based on consent, users may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
  3. To exercise these rights, users may contact the Controller at dartscareer@gmail.com.
  4. Users also have the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Polish Personal Data Protection Office (UODO) if they consider that the processing of their personal data infringes applicable law.
  5. Information about the supervisory authority is available at https://uodo.gov.pl.

§12. Profiling and data security

  1. The Controller takes measures appropriate to the nature of the Website to protect data and reduce the risk of unauthorised use.
  2. Once Google advertising services are enabled, data may be subject to profiling for advertising purposes, depending on the consent given and users’ settings. At present, advertisements and the associated profiling are not enabled.
  3. The Controller does not make automated decisions based on users’ personal data that produce legal effects concerning them or similarly significantly affect them.

§13. Changes to the Privacy Policy

  1. The Controller reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy, in particular following changes in law, the technologies used on the Website or its features.
  2. The current version of this document is available on DartsCareer.pl.
  3. The last updated date is shown at the beginning of the document.
  4. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact the Controller at dartscareer@gmail.com.
